Around here I get so frustrated when I think/know something isn't right with my kids and the doctor or doctors blow it off... I have 2 doctors. We have a family doctor and a pediatrician..We quite going to the pediatrician for awhile because of the way she dealt with Sebastian's ears. Now I know we don't deal with her when it comes to ears we go straight to the ENT...(from the words of the ENT). I started going back to her when Eve had gotten sick and the family doctor blew off elevated lab work. Anyways,
Sebastian has been sick for quite awhile now. For several months he has complained of stomach pains, headaches etc. To at one point he was so dehydrated they couldn't get lab work from him and he passed out. Only to have the doctor tell me only a virus.. Ok so I left it. But it's still going on. When he misses a full week of school something is up again...
We went to the Pediatrician yesterday and she listened to what was going on and to Sebastian and looked at his pee results and you could see her concern. She says this is what we are going to do. I know migraines run in the family but I want to get a MRI of the brain. Headaches for a daily basis for months isn't good. Then we are going to do lab work. Checking his liver, pancreas, kidneys etc. She found protein in his urine which sometimes is normal for active boys. But it has come up 2 times in urine test. All of this combined with severe stomach pains and not pooping for a week. She thinks something else could be wrong. She did say that there was a long shot of this being psychological from the gun incident causing stress on his body and this is how he is dealing with it. However that doesn't explain the urine. She said she would rather be safe then sorry.
We left with Sebastian not happy about the idea of blood work. " I am NOT going to have my blood drawn!". The doctor reassured him if he went to this lab and asked for Pat she would take good care of him and wouldn't be bad at all. So we went and asked for Pat. She was good. And he survived without passing out again.
Last night he asked me " Mom if I have to get my blood drawn again can we go to that lady again?" Big sigh of relief from me.... At least maybe next time I won't have to bribe him with Gamestop... Although I did get away from gamestop for under $3. YES!
He is home again today. We have one urine test to do from home. Something about when you stand sometimes you can have more protein in your urine. So they need a first in the morning test. Sounds like a pregnancy test....:)
The MRI won't be until end of March probably. She wants to have it done at the hospital in case they need to put him to sleep to have it done.
Man just another exciting day with doctors. Some good news is we met the family deductible already and the out of pocket we are only short a little under 300. Crazy not even March yet and that's how much the kids have used it. I should say Alex did. Bad side means I now know the total we owe the Cardiologist for all the test almost 800. YIKES!
