Odds and Ins

So last night my late night work was pretty productive and today also. Today was pretty good but it seemed like all of a sudden the headache came and stayed. Yuck.

So I took the kids and headed to the Chiropractor. We had an extra child Sebastian best friend Trapper. He might as well be one of ours. It fits right in. It was funny. Sebastian just had his first visit on monday for xrays. Today he was to be adjusted for the first time which he said he wasn't going to do. I was so glad Trapper was there. He was so interested in what was going on it go Sebastian excited about it too.It was funny he was so excited because some how he got his ear in he picture.

I get home and all I wanted to do was get on the computer and blog. I don't remember now about what but I just needed write. So what happens the stinkin computer was not working. It got some kind of virus. Yes, just what I wanted. I take it up to get it checked and find out one of the wonderful sites my kids got on had a virus attached to it.Even the website for the government for jobs had one attached to it. Can we say irritating. I tell them do not download anything. But they do. Malcolm is at that age of I know more....
For instance, Cole, Trapper and Sebastian came up with a new game that i am not fond of. They take the piano dolly and ride it down the drive way into the street. So I am talking to Kim Trappers mom and we say some thing about the piano dolly. Malcolm says what is a piano dolly. I explained what it was and he wanted to argue that I was totally wrong. How many times have we moved this big stinkin piano. Trust me I tell him that is the name. Kim and I are just listening. We both try to explain the diffence. Finally I was ding bat I know what it is If you don't believe me go ask grandma she is old and she will know... Oops. Not that she is that old just old enough to tell him what it really is. But he would have argue me to the death over that. Is this really what teenagers are about? I forgot how you think your parents know nothing when you are that age.

I totally suck as a mom tonight. Because we stood outside talking until after 8pm and the kids had not had dinner. They each had a snack after school and then several of them ate cereal around 6pm. So they weren't starving but needless to say it was a fend for yourself. But bellies were full before bedtime.

Eve may totally kill me for writing this hear but since I use this like a journal I want to remember it. Ok this week Eve had her re-exam and xrays at the Chiropractor. So when he goes over the xrays she evidently wore her bra with a wire and it showed up on the xrays. She starts giggling. Well Eve starts and can't stop her giggling. He looks at her like what. She points to her boobs on the xray. I couldn't decide whether to be embarassed or die laughing. I tried to explain he saw them but as a doctor he ignores things like that so you don't point them out. Seriously, she thought it was so funny and couldn't stop laughing even in the car. Poor Dr. Hughlett.
Well I guess that is all for tonight.

REALLY?

What's up with all this Swine Flu? As I watch the news in here Texas and they close districts and schools I sit in amazement. Hmmm I seem to remember this conference several years ago when I was in nursing school. It was on Pandemics and about how it was something you saw around 50 year mark. And we were due. Now this was what 4 or 5 years ago.

Canceling after school activities etc. Changing UIL competitions. So I am torn. As a nurse I totally see the danger from the virus with it muliple strains involved into one. I know how fast it can spread but I am also not trying to panic. But living in Texas and so close to the border. I know we are more at risk. Alot of kids from this area go back and forth to Mexico to visit relatives.

I just don't get the idea of not closing the border. Yeah the Head of Department of Homeland security says there no facts to warrant closure really? Yes we have the virus here but if we can control more being brought over here wouldn't you want that. But she is way off in Washington DC not here so I guess that doesn't occur to her.

Tonight I took the kids to get the 31cent ice cream at Baskin Robbins..You can't beat the price 7 ice cream with double scoops for less than $4. Yes! I have been giving my children the wash your hands etc the last couple of days to help prevent anyone from getting sick in our house. Sebastian states" Mom, you act different." I ask why thinking he was talking about the conversation I was relating from earlier to Malcolm. He explains " no since this stupid swine flu thing!"
I bought them each their own hand sanitizer and have been telling them to use it before lunch etc. Sebastian's teacher has been doing the same thing telling them to use it everytime they sneeze or walk out of their classroom.

On our way to church tonight I got in the car and was hmmm someone is funky... Thinkin it was one of the older boys since they had been riding bikes etc. Then I am talking to Dianna at church and Sebastian walked up and almost knocked us over. I was boy you are FUNKY! How can a 8 year old be so funky that showers on a regular basis?
I remember my older boys going through this but I thought they were a little older. Man with all these boys I need to buy stock in deoderant.
Ok this is just a bunch of rambling I need to go do paperwork. I have to have it done by Friday. Sheesh..

Full heart

I was driving home from my neice Ashlyn's first birthday and I found my heart was full. That was even after I had to referee a fight before starting out. But as I drove in a quiet car in the dark home I had time to think about how blessed I am.
I have 5 healthy children, good job,a wonderful house to live in with my family.
Then I have my siblings. My sisters and I had so much fun posing for our sister pictures. Every once in a while we try and do a picture with the 4 girls we used to end up short one and so now it is an extra effort to try and get one when we are all together. Some are goofy pictures and some we try to be serious..

I will post them later as soon as my dad gets them to us or I can get them uploaded to the computer.

Malcolm had a blast in California. He didn't lose his money but didn't budget real well. But that is his well short fall. He isn't a saver. So by today he was out of money and still had to buy lunch. So he said he was fine and drank water for lunch. But you know he has to learn somehow if you spend your money then this is what you get.
He was soo funny. When we got home he called everyone into the den and says... (gives a little speech) and hands me an Oscar "for the best mom" it was so cute.
Off to finish things here.

good weekend

Well it has been a pretty good weekend so far. I worked Wednesday and Thursday night and was suppose to work friday night. I was put on call. Yes this can be good but bad at the same time.I could have used the money but it freed up my Saturday since I didn't have to sleep. I was able to get quite a bit done on Saturday. We cleaned the house, dropped cole at a fund raiser, went to Trapper's soccer game(sebastian best friend)and hung out with Kim (Trapper's mom) She is too funny.
We all went for snowcones last night and let the boys play in the fields by the stand. It was funny to watch them hide behind hills and try and hide behind trees. When you get Cole and Eve together you never know what they will say or do. We laughed soooo hard.On the way to take Kim home we were sitting at the light and Cole yells in the car I love your mohawk to the guy in the car next to us.. Then we see him turn. Ok all the windows were up and we were like how did he hear him? The poor guy was turning looking out his window so confused at where it came from. Then as we turn I find out Alex had opened his back window and said the same thing. That is how he heard it. Boys... you really can't take them anywhere...I quickly locked the windows so they couldn't do that again.
Last night Eve and I went shopping for my neice 1st birthday party today. Eve found the ELMO's shelf... there were 10 at least elmos sitting there. She decided to see what they were saying. She pressed 6 of them one after another. She laughed then she went on every aisle we went on that had a toy that made noise and did the same thing. She says so can we come back I can spend hours doing this...Oh brother..
Well I am off to take Alex to the after hours clinic I think he may have messed up his knee. He fell last night and hit his knee on the concrete.

update

It's been awile since I had a chance to write. It has been absolutely insane around here with work and kids and work...
Ok I sent Malcolm off to Los Angeles today.Wow I didn't realize how hard it would be to see him off. I mean come on he is 15. right? Well, he left right after school. I was giving him the mom short version lecture.. Malcolm remember who you are and what you stand for.. you know the drill. So he humors me and listens.. I tell him how proud of him I am and who he is.Then remind him again to be on his best behavior and remember who he is. And that his mom is always watching too. He laughs and agrees I am always watching.
THis is my forgetful child. I love him sooo much but he forgets things soo much. So I reminded him to take his money with him don't leave it in the hotel.

I finally did it. I gave my resignation from my full-time job. I am not quiting completely I will carry a few of my patients I just couldn't give up. But will be back to the hospital full-time. I think in the long run the stress and hassle will be less. It drives me nuts that at my one job I am picking up the slack from the other nurses that don't do their jobs and the patient calls me and I end up doing what they should have done in the first place. My migraines started coming back with a vengeance so finally after alot of prayer and debate with myself I decided to pull back and very well may quit all together. I just know that the patients I am keeping I not sure they would get taken care of the way they needed to be.
well I need to go get ready for work.

Attitude adjustment needed......

Seeking Attitude adjustment! Not for who you think not the kids but for me.. I have worked so much this week and then worked last night at the Hospital and didn't get to come home and sleep trying to accomplish some things whether with my kids or helping others out. By 2pm and still not being asleep I was ok I am done. What is worse is tonight is my ex in laws 25th anniversary party.
Yeah why it matters whether I show up I am not real sure. But I laid down and have about 2 hours of sleep. So since Thursday night I have have I think 4 hours or so of sleep. Ugh and I am feeling it too. I got up though because it is important for my kids for me to go.
How bad am I though I am NOT wearing a dress. I am wearing nice dress slacks and a shirt. I am thinking I am putting in an appearance and leave. With this much lack of sleep. I can tend to be a BIT moody. Then add the fact that right now I am irritated with my ex right now for not stepping up to his financial responsibility which increases my extra work hours. Yet he finds money for every thing else but what involves his kids. Do you see maybe I am not in the best mood.
I told my kids I was putting in an appearance and leaving and going out. MY out... I am going to go to the movies by myself...I need a tear jerker. hmmm wonder if I can find one.
Well, I needed to express some of this while I sat here with rollers in my hair and getting ready for this "thing" tonight.
Sebastian ask me do you think Granny is nice? I say do you? He says yes...then that is all that matters. Then today he says mom do you like Granny and popo. Yes Sebastian. He says I don't like people talking about you.??? So I say do they still do that? no. He gets out of the car and runs off.
So much for little ones staying innocent.
Well wish me luck...

Calm

I got on to post something about today when I realized I sooo need to update the background of it. Hmmm maybe next week. Surely it is still snowing somewhere just not in Texas.

I was put on call last night so I didn't have to work. I enjoyed sitting in the den with the kids watching tv and not worrying about work. Today since I planned on sleeping and didn't need to it was amazing not to have anything to do. Really nothing. YES! So Eve talked me into taking her to the Hannah Montana movie. I figured it was a good time to spend with her just us. Well, kinda my niece Destinee came too. They both just loved the movie.
It was cute but the EVE LOVED IT! I am glad she did. We went to Tinseltown and let me tell you how much I spent for 3 movie tickets.... $9.75. I was so excited. If I went to the Parks it would have only gotten one of us in for that cost. So it made it even more enjoyable.
After the movie Destinee says I have $1.12 left. You know what would make this day even better. If we could go to Dollar Tree. :) I think that was a hint. You see. Eve agreed. So why not. We went to Dollar Tree and get this neither one of them bought anything. Hmmm.. So then to Target. Destinee found a really cute scarf for her dollar. Eve saved hers like always.:)
Well, I finally did it I never really understood the whole concept and still am trying to figure it out.I am on Facebook now. Yes, I gave in. Now what time I have to update we will see. But it has been nice reading up on old friends.

Off to fix the Easter baskets so I can go to bed. I can't seem to get my picture of the girls uploaded tonight i will work on it tomorrow.
Have a Happy Easter!

Mind full of thoughts

Have you ever had those dreams that you remember and wish you never remembered them?
I remember some of my dreams but this one last weekend is horrible. I really wish I didn't remember it but I do and constantly am thinking about it especially at night.

Maybe it is the pain medicine who knows. But Saturday I took a nap since I was exhausted and had to work that night. I woke up with the eery feeling. I had this dream that Eve had come into my room saying she thought she had heard someone in our house. She was absolutely petrified. I just figured it was the cat so I got up and went to turn on my bedroom light and it wouldn't work. Then I went into the bathroom to turn on the light. ( man just typing this is giving me the heeevy jeevy) Reach into turn it on and someone grabbed my arm and then grabbed me completely covering my mouth where I couldn't yell for her to go run and get help. She stood there terrified at what was occuring. That is when I woke up. She my problem. I had no time in my dream to kick his butt. lol.

In all seriousness it really freaked me out. So what do I do I am sitting here typing this on the computer with no lights on in the house. Smooth move right. No problems I am the safest of safe when it comes to locking everything down. It's like my uncle said when Malcolm was sleeping in New Mexico with his window open. The burglar would be shot dead before the person sleeping knew they were in the house.

Anyways, I took a sick day with sebastian today. He complained all night of a headache and stomach ache. I go to pick up Malcolm from school and he sees Sebastian in the car... Normal sick day or what? Sebastian says no I felt really bad until I had my diarhea. I think I had too much stuff in my stomach. Now I feel better. We both looked at each other and tried not to laugh. He was serious too.

Unfortunely, the doctor called (really the nurse) and said my MRI showed some problems. I don't know if that is good or bad. At least it explains my constant pain. Well, From what I understand of it. There is thickening of the tendons which means chronic tendonitis (from accident) or a partial tear of the tendon. Great! Just what I wanted to hear. So I will start physical therapy soon and if that doesn't work she will send me on to a orthopedic doctor. It has gotten so bad that times I can't pick up a gallon of milk. I went to Costco tonight with my mom and Eve. We needed bottle water. Well my mom can't lift it. Eve tried because she yelled at me for doing it and couldn't. So I had too. WE needed 2! Yeah me. I am paying for it now.

Malcolm and I were talking about the orthopedic tonight and he says I knew it! Huh?
He said he and some friends were having a heated discussion about what an Orthopedic does. Treats only feet injuries or all bones etc. I was a bit suprised at the topic they were argueing about. He is learning about cells etc in biology maybe that is why. Cole is learning to cook in one of his classes and yesterday helped me make Peach cobbler. I make up my own recipe. I always hated the mess of kneeding the dough etc. Well, as I make it he says mom do you want me to kneed it? What? He has been learning to make breads, flour tortillas etc. I am very impressed.

Eve came home feeling pretty lousy and it only got worse. It was a bad bad migraine tonight. Vomiting the works. She was leaving her room to go into my room and could smell dinner. (it was just chicken) and she comes down the stairs and looked like she was dying. she turns to go into the hall bath downstairs and it is occupied. She runs into Grandmas room and is just so upset. Ends up being the smell was so strong she couldn't handle it. She said all of the upstairs smelled like it. etc. So I went upstairs to air out her room and mine so she could sleep. Change of sheet in my room open some windows fan on and she was good. I shut the windows and she was still sleeping. Poor thing. I remember how bad my migraines used to get and still do. Man of all the traits to inherit. This one sucks.

Gardening anyone? I am really enjoying my garden.Cole has been a big help. When we hear it will be freezing he has tarped everything. Tonight we did it together. fingers crossed the wind doesn't blow it away.

Ok last subject I know this has been long. Conference yesterday did you watch?
I planned on being up by 10:45 to be ready for the first session. I got off work at 8am. So my alarm didn't go off and I woke up at 11:45 so we caught the last part of the first session. President Monson brought me to tears. I can't really put my fingers on it. It was the trials of others that spoke to me. Especailly when he told about the women crossing back to Germany and her children all dying but yet how grateful she was even after suffering becuase she knew she could be with them in Heaven for Eternity. Needless to say I was crying. A few looks from my kids and they knew what it was about.
Times are tough right now for everyone I know. As my children and I go through our struggles we try very hard to see the silver lining of the trials. I feel so energized to go on with my week. All and all they all were good talks. The kids sang loudly to all of the songs especially Thank the Oh God for our Prophet and TIll we meet again. Whether it was the choir only or congregation they were singing. I am so glad to see they enjoy those songs.
Nite!
How blessed are we to be able to see conference and hear it and feel the spirit so strongly even when we aren't there in person.

Hopefully you can see how much air he got in this picture.

excitement

I am sitting at work and had a minute to catch up on Cole's track meet. He did really well. If you ask him he will say he didn't. I beg to differ. Anyone that can get over the bar with winds of 20 miles per hour ROCKS! I have some cool pictures. He has alot of height on his jumps if the wind would not send the pole back to him. He still is working out the kinks in form. But I thought he was awesome. Maybe a little bias.

I tried to explain to him it is a matter of knowing you want to do something new like this and trying it. He has decided he really wants to do this in the olympics. So his coach is looking for him a private coach for the summer. Hmm anyone know the cost of them?

He starts swimming next week. I think this year he is trying out a little of everything and figuring out what he likes/loves. He said if he could play defense only he would love football. He is all about the hitting. Sounds familiar my nephew Dalton is the same way and so is Sebastian.
Well I will post photos of his jumps later. back to work I go.

Hidden blessing

I think one of the hardest jobs as a nurse going in to patient's homes is when you

can't fix the problems. Whether it is severe pain due to a decline in health or

helping the patient and family deal with the aftermath of a stroke.

This week as been very difficult doing what I can but really knowing that it may not

be enough.

See them on a regular basis sometimes 5 times a week they become like family. They

open up to you sometimes more then their family. Not wanting to open up and reveal

their fears. Not wanting to burden their families. I hear those and do my best to

make them feel better. But moments like

yesterday and this morning just hit very close to home. Your heart aches when you

listen and know that may be the only thing you can do.

Even as hard as those days are I know that having them in my life is such a

blessing. I learn so much from each one of them.

moments in time

I have to say that something is sitting on my heart so strong. You know as our kids grow up there are moments we find that just make our heart burst whether with pride or love. Cole is in 7th grade now and up for any challenge. He does well in school and has decided to conquer sports also. He played Football and decided to go out for Track. Even though he hated running. Which made absolutely no since to me. But hey whatever he wants to try.

Well, when track season started he did only field sports. Pole vaulting and High jump. He did pretty well but decided at one point he didn't get enough air for the high jump as he wanted and to focus on Pole vaulting. Then one day he comes home and says I am doing hurdles now. Hmmm. You hate to run? Yeah but this is different. Ok

I was just amazed at his lack of fear or nerves with trying new things or opportunities.
This weekend is the district track meet. He had a jump off with pole vaulting and he will be going to district this weekend. Then he initially made alternate for the hurdles and it looks like he will be doing hurdles also as of today.

What I find interesting is that the last meet he was only doing hurdles and at the last minute one of the guys couldn't jump and they had Cole do the pole vaulting. No nerves. Or at least he didn't show them. I was wonderful he comes to find me after the hurdles trying to hide his grin. But he was beaming with pride of how well he did. I in my mother role was so proud of him for being him that I almost cried. Crazy I know.
I have just been so blessed with such wonderful kids. All have their moments of course. But these moments of gratitude for just being blessed with my kids are wonderful.
