Can he possibly be 16? My oh my he has grown.. This post is late as well. He turned 16 on Saturday. Our normal practice on Birthday's is to wake you up singing early in the morning where we give you one gift. Well, this year Cole decided to go to a stake youth climbing activity so he was gone that morning he turned 16. But I guess being able to camp and rock climb the night before you turn 16 is better than being at home doing nothing that cool...
We celebrated on Saturday with a party with him and Malcolm the way we have since they were little. Cole is not one for parties. So we had a family party with a couple of close friends sprinkled in. I look at pictures of Cole when he was little and how much a happy baby he always was and I look at him now and as long as you don't pick up a camera he is smiling most of the time. ( he hates to smile in pictures)He was asked to speak in sacrament that was for 3 wards a couple of weeks ago. I was amazed by his ability to bring it to the audience on a topic such as home teaching and really tell everyone how important it is etc. He has been fortunate to have an amazing home teaching companion Brother Yates. He is an older man who became a widower since they were companions. Cole has really looked at him as a role model. He decided he wanted Brother Yates to ordain him yesterday to a priest. It was so cute to watch the older gentleman give do the ordination. Brother Yates turned to me and said my heart was beating so hard. But it meant so much to Cole.
Cole has become the guy that all around him feel comfortable talking to him. They know Cole's beliefs and ask on a regular basis how he feels about certain things. He has become a great missionary whether he realizes it or not.
I remember when Cole was in pre-k and he talked so fast that nobody could understand him. He had so many important things to say. Today Cole has slowed down but you know when he talks it is usually important. He is more a listener except when it comes to him watching out for Eve and making sure Boys stay away from her at school. He can be a regular giggle box as well.
He has this poise that most teenagers are unable to have when dealing with adults. He feels so comfortable talking to them and listening. You are surprised at his depth of knowledge on things.
Cole is such a joy to have in our family I can't imagine life without him. We were truly blessed when Heavenly Father added him to our family.
Cole I love you so much. I am so proud of you. Always remember who you are and what you stand for...
What an amazing young man you have become and what a great man you will make.
