Life around our house there is never a dull moment. I wish at times I kept a pen and paper to write things down or a recorder to record daily events. We have our struggles and fights but most of the time it is laughter. Occasionally, the laughter is to the point of no return at the dinner table or of course right before prayer. But I love that. I love hearing my kids laugh with each other. I love how the laughter is contagious when one starts all they have to do is look at each other and they all start laughing. It is almost like they read each others minds.
We went to the mission farewell for a family friend. Someone we have known since he was little. Josh is a year older than Malcolm. His farewell sacrament meeting was in our old ward Arlington 1st ward. It was our ward many years ago and it was like going home again. One of the stories Josh told was about remembering something from Primary. Afterwards, Malcolm says I remember that it is when I used to sneak into the older class in primary.
Josh spoke completely by the spirit and his heart. Part of his talk was about the lower lights and being a lower light for others. It was such a special talk and touched my heart and how much you could feel the spirit.
On most nights we have extra people/kids at our house. Here lately it has been one specific friend of Cole. This kid is here probably 5 nights a week. He comes after track practice with Cole or after his church, or work or just whenever. It has been good to have him around. I have watched as he has been at our house. I have watched how it has brought my boys all of them closer together. I have watched how Cole is growing into an amazing young man willing to share the gospel even in subtle ways.
Stephanie and I were talking about all the craziness of this time of year. Track season is in full swing for Cole and Alex. Sebastian has started League Basketball. Eve is doing UIL for choir and being a nanny. Malcolm works like crazy and spends his Tuesday out with the missionaries and at Institute.
Last night at dinner most of the time was spent convincing Eve to go to the LDS Prom this Friday. She hates to going to the dances and not having guys ask the girls to dance. As Cole and Alex and Eve were explaining to Jonathan how LDS dances work and how you will find guys just standing around instead of asking girls. Jonathan quickly chimes in and says so the guys are weenies!! Yeah answers the whole table and laughter breaks out. Typical night around the dinner table. LOVE IT!!
