The hospitals are feeling the crunch of the economy. It may have taken a little longer to trikle down but it is here. Summer is our slow time every year. But this week one of our sister hospitals laid off 50 plus people. That is a little scarey.
Our floor was closed Friday. I went in for a meeting and found they had moved all of our patient into the new wing so that wing could stay productive since it wasn't paid for yet. hmmm.. I have been recently made co-chair of our floor committee which a big leap of faith. They told me this week that they needed someone who could stand up for the floor. I warned her that I ruffle some feathers at time when I go to staffing she says GOOD that is what we need. So I guess at times it helps to be outspoken.I have also been put on the sub committee for Charge nurses.
I am hoping that I get to work this week. The last 2 weeks I have already missed alot of work time. Hopefully not this week.
Alex came home from school Friday to tell me that he hurt his knee in PE today. Well poor guy seems to be accident prone and I have gotten so used to him getting hurt and a hour later being fine. So I said lets put some ice on it and we will see how you do. Well when I finally woke up enough to really look at it the knee was swolen. So off to the after hour clinic we go. He asked the doctor why he could feel his knee vibrate which made her confused so he showed her and she was oh sometime your sack under your knee leaks.. Then the x-ray..He has bleeding under his knee cap and is to stay off it this weekend and no trampoline for a while. Yeah that will be easy.
The pain is still there as of this morning still having problems walking. It may be a long recovery.
He said why is that when the doctor says I should be fine in a couple of days I always end up in the percentage that it takes longer. Poor thing. Sebastian says he needs to be wrapped in marshmellows.lol That's how a 9 year old thinks.
By saturday morning Alex was already complaining of being bored. He had only been up an hour. YIKES long day ahead. Luckily some of my nieces and nephew came over and helped to entertain him. Sweet Georgah went to his room where he was laying and sat on the bed and played the ds lite the whole time just so he would have company.
