Birthdays, Ordinations, Talks oh my

When I had a little boy 14 years ago around Mother's day I never thought about the fact that as he came of Priesthood age we would share this day every 2 years. Which is wonderful! I didn't get to write a Birthday post about him so this will be a combination post of his birthday and his ordination day. Sebastian from the time he was born was this sweet baby with this little spirit you just can't explain. His smile his hugs. He just melts your heart. He meets no strangers. He has the ability to make friends anywhere he goes. A trait I wish I had. Whether girls or guys he has best friends that are both. Truly best friends. Not fly by night friends but when they move away they are still best friends. He honors his priesthood at such a young age that when I watch him pass the sacrament with such reverence that my heart smiles. Yesterday he was waiting at the end of the pew and my nephew who is 2 looks up and sees him and yells Sebastian. 2 things about this. Owen which is 2 has a hard time keeping Sebastian and Alex separate. So that was cool but I think it made Sebastian's day he got it right.

He is learning from the examples around him of faith and building his testimony early. Which I am truly grateful for. His older brothers have become a key in guiding him to be a wonderful young man. Last night another discussion about girls came up. The older boys went to EFY express about a month ago where the speaker talked about kissing etc. The phrase they learned and has stuck with them was " kissing is a gateway drug". At first it is funny saying but it makes sense. So Sebastian is holding on to the lessons his brothers have learned and taking them to heart and growing with them. I love his laugh. And when I can get them his hugs. This is where he is like me. I wasn't a big hugger growing up and Neither is Sebastian. But like the other night he came and laid on the couch next to me with his head on my shoulder he lets you know he loves you in his own way. He is a loyal brother, friend, son.  He loves everything about Basketball. Constantly trying to improve his vertical jump and trains everyday! He has his career goal to be in the FBI at least for now as a field agent. But absolutely loves math so we will see where life takes him.

He was just recently boarded for his life and now is working on his Eagle. I am so proud of him. This is something he has been navigating with his scout leader himself with out me pushing him. I am not a big scout parent. I wish I was better. So he set his goal to finish and he is headed that way.

I am so lucky that Heavenly Father sent my last little one to me. He was such a blessing in our lives and still is. I love the having him in our family and couldn't imagine not having him here with us. I can't wait to see the Man he grows to be but hope that time doesn't move to fast. I am enjoying my time with him.

If I could have taken a picture of his ordination I would have. I had talked to the bishopric counselor last week about where we would do the ordination due to how big the family was. He at first said we can do it in the classroom. I explained I didn't think we would fit. He said it would work. Another man chuckled knowing that the guy didn't know how big our extended family was. When we got to church they decided to move it to the chapel. We sat down in the chapel and filled the first 4 or 5 benches. When the boys/men who were over 16 stood to stand in the circle it was all I could do to hold back the tears. In the circle Sebastian had His dad, Uncle Adam, Adam Jr, Uncle Taylor, Uncle Jeff, Dakin, Dalton, Dallin, Malcolm, And Cole. Plus the bishopric. He was missing 2 uncles on my side that could have stood in but were unable to be there. What an amazing thing to see all these guys in the circle. He said his head felt so heavy. But what a blessing to have this in our family. By the time he is having kids this age I can't even imagine the size of the circle. I am so thankful for all these men and there examples to my boys to get them to this point.

Family came over to celebrate the ordination and Mother's day. It was a fun relaxing day. With family and many blessing. This week gave Sebastian and our whole family a spiritual high like never before.

Sebastian also spoke in church yesterday.  He shared a little story about how last Sunday they took the sacrament to others after church and how his faith grew that day. Then during the week a young man that has become like a brother to them asked for a blessing even though he is not a member. He has begun reading scriptures with us nightly. What a week. What a wonderful week.
