Yes, the end of the school year and officially the beginning of summer vacation. I don't know who is more excited me or the kids. I know alot of people (mom's) I have been talking to are dreading it. Not me.. It makes work easier for one and I have more time to spend with them. Now don't get me wrong there will be fights etc but it will be a good summer.
Summer vacation is starting and they are already talking of school next year or at least football season, volleyball, basketball and band. We start out the summer with Eve and myself heading off to girl's camp and Cole and Sebastian at football camp. We have never done the camps in the summer for sports so we will see how they go. Eve hopefully will be doing volleyball in June too. Alex poor thing has to sit out on this football camp. Can't have another injury not yet. Cole is super excited about the new high school coach for Summit. His creditials I guess are to Cole's likings. And to me too. Hopefully we won't get run over this year on the field. Even though Cole has one more year before high school ball he has met the coach and he is really excited.
Today was Alex last day in Elementary school. I can't believe how much my babies are growing up. Every year they do a picture show of the kids since pre-k that have been at the school and show pictures of how these kids have grown. Watching it brought back a lot of memories of him. After it was over with he just looked sad. He said nothing was wrong but you could see it in his faces. A lot of kids were that way.
Reality of moving on to a new school even though all his friends are moving on to the same school it is different. You may not see them.
Now Sebastian on the other hand. He has decided to go ahead and attend the school closest to our house next year leaving all his friends. Especially his best friend who will be going to a different school in 5th than Sebastian. I think I am more sad about it then he is. To him he gets to walk or ride his bike which he has never been able to do. So he is excited. At Glenn Harmon he is big man in his grade. He knows everyone and everyone knows him. They have this thing that when I go to school..It's sebastian is the fastest kid in school...etc. I don't know if he understands how things are going to be different from being at a school where all your siblings have gone and everyone knows you and your family. He spends time in 2 teachers from his school's pool. I am glad he is excited and have forbid any of the kids from telling him any down sides to going to a new school. I don't do change well and he does. So I am really happy. It will be alot easier for me and work. Cole can walk with him to school and even in the rain we are less than 1/2 a mile from the school. His best friend Trapper and him will be playing soccer together this fall so they will have plenty of time to see each other. Wow, big changes this next year.
I went to Austin with Alex and the 4th graders on Monday. It was fun to watch him interact with his peers. The mother of the girl he has liked all year long likes to mess with him. She commented on how well he is able to speak to adults. He does very well. Not shy at all. Carries on a very intellegent conversation. She asked him if he liked her..not as a person but like liked her. He looks at her funny and says "NO, your too old for me!" He is such a good kid. I think I see the most change in him this year out of all of my kids. There was a little boy in our group that we found out he didn't have any money for dinner. I asked him why he simply told me it was his problem. Finally he told me his mom didn't have any money. When I told him I would buy him something you should have seen his face light up. Really something off the dollar menu? Can I choose which hamburger? You would have thought it was Christmas for him. I told him he could get three things from the dollar menu. (i was kinda on a budget) He was so excited. This is a kid that gets the rough end of the deal at school alot. He is very active and is label one of the bad kids. What I found out that day was that his mom kicks him in his head and he really has a tough life at home. The mom that was telling me this lives next to him and she said she brought it to the school's attention and they blew it off. I just wanted to cry. He behaved so good for us. It was as if he just needed someone to be nice to him or believe in him. It makes me wonder how kids in this situation ever make it through life. How horrible. Hopefully moving on to another school he will leave the opinions of him behind him and start over.
Ok,so this weekend is going to be super busy. Work and finishing up getting everything ready for camp and leaving food in the house that the boys can cook. They each have their duties written down so to prevent the extra fighting. You know how it goes. I did the dishes last night etc.. I am really excited to go to girls camp but at the same time a little nervous leaving the boys. My mom will be here but boys are boys and these days my house seems to be wanting to pay for a vacation for every doctor in town.:)
Exciting news when football season comes around. Our high school at their second game will be playing in the new Cowboys stadium and it will be on TV. We play our rival which happens to be my niece Sarah's school. How cool is that. We can see the stadium without paying for Cowboy prices..;)Yes this was the conversation in our car today on the way home from the Chiropractor. FOOTBALL! And it will be for now until Christmas. Good thing I like football and going to the games.
Well better go do dinner.
Later gators.... Post pictures when I get them of today and after camp.
