"Beasting it up" and making me so proud!

You would have thought I was the one that raced today. I can't explain how full my heart is from watching Cole tonight. I know we shouldn't be prideful people but is it wrong to be so proud of your child and their accomplishments that you want to jump up and down and dance and when you think about it you automatically smile. BIG smile~

Growing up I never found my thing. You know that you just absolutely excelled at and had pride in it. I was just average. Nothing is wrong with it other than I didn't want to be average. I have tried to make sure each one of my kids found their IT thing.

This year Cole is finding his IT factor. He is an athlete. Football you should have seen him. The last couple of weeks I have listened to Eve talk about the talk at school about how amazing Cole was at Track and field. He is a " BEAST"! (that's a good thing) Tonight I saw for myself the wonder of his talents he is working so hard for. He goes to practice before school, then in athletics and for another hour and half after school. He ran the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, Pole vaulting, and last the 4 by 4 as the last leg. Oh my! It started with his race in the 110. He blew those other kids away. The guys closest to him were his team mates. He took 1st, they took 2 and 3rd. Not bad at all. But watching that race and him fly over the hurdles that last year he struggled with his steps and glide and he as he put it "Beasted it". And that he did. By a mile.. well not really. The lady next to me asked what his name was again. Then said yeah I been hearing about him. She was a parent from the opposing team. ok interesting.
After much cold and waiting he did the 300 hurdles. Heavens he had to be in his glory he ran so fast and left them all far behind him. Winning that too. You should have heard the crowd cheering him on. He then went to pole vaulting. As I stood and watch his mood, attitude change. He became a whole different kid from last year even this winter at pole vaulting camp. You could see the determination. He missed the first time. The second he was several feet above the bar but his hip came down on the bar. The third he flew over it. He comes down the box with so much power. Where did this come from? The difference a year makes. I was standing there listening to his coach talk to the other coach.
" You have to watch this kid he comes out of the box so powerful. If I can get his follow through at the bar. Each time the both coaches talked of their amazement of him. Now no one said his up and over was pretty. In fact it is not the exact form he is suppose to have but it works for him as his coach says. He came up on his last run after hitting the pole you could tell he hurt and up and over and a somersault and man he nailed it. As he walked off his coach told him he needed to call it a night and not do long jump. I had no clue he was doing the 4 by 4. He then preceded to go line up for the relay. " what?" Stretched it out and ran his heart out.
As the first 2 legs were running people started to leave. As they saw Cole line up for the last leg you hear people say I want to watch him run.Talking about Cole. One of the other teams had a huge lead in front of the others. Cole was handed the stick and took off. The speed. By the time he took off the other kid was almost half the 1/3 of the track from him by the time they got to the point opposite of where Cole started he had caught the other kid. The raced tight until very end the other kid sprinted and managed to beat Cole by 3 feet or so. Cole later said he just didn't have the ability to sprint at that point after playing the catch up. He had everyone on their feet, the crowd in the middle of the field running to the side to yell him on. I heard one person say that was the way to do it. The best race she had seen.

Even though he didn't win that I was so proud of him. Yes it is wonderful that he won what he did but the fact that he just was assigned to this relay the day before and blasted it. He has worked so hard to achieve what he has that I am proud of HIM.

I took my new video camera with me to video tape it. I should have messed with it more before I got there it wouldn't cooperate with me and I didn't get it on tape. Then I get in the car and after the meet and get it to work. SUCKS!

I am so looking forward to the rest of track season.

SIDENOTE:

I am also proud of Eve for trying something out of her comfort zone. She tried out for Pole vaulting this year and struggled with her steps then got them down. Unfortunately, she was cut in the last cuts today. You go girl.. I am so proud of you and sticking to it. We will continue to work this year on it and you will blow them away next year.

I can not tell you how blessed I am feeling to have the children I have. Each blessed with different personalities and talents to bless our lives and make our family who we are. Things may not always be perfect but who wants perfect when you can have what I have. Life stinks sometimes. I get tired ,frustrated and just want to scream but when I lay my head down (whether day or night) I know how much I have to be thankful for.

We leave for vacation tomorrow. We are going to go see Uncle Chuck and Aunt Jolene on our way to see Taylor and the family. And then the most exciting part I get to take my kids to Disney and to see the real beach not the gulf we have. So excited.

As Candra once said--The water is blue! I hope you have a great-much needed vacation! I have just been in tears as I read both of your bloggings. I have felt much of the pride & joy for Cole last night as you told me about the track meet.(perhaps partly because of your excitement in it!) Cole is a special guy--I told him thank you for going with me to church last Sunday(meaning for the help with Ashlyn) and his comment was: "That's okay Grandma, I like to go to church". And you can tell that he really does! I love you!

That is awesome!!! Even if you didn't get it recorded at least you were there and you have the memories of it. That is really impressive. I wanted Adam to try out for track, but he said he wanted to sleep, lol! I hope you guys have a great vacation. If anyone deserves it, it's you guys. Be careful and take lots of pictures. Again, even if you don't get pictures/video, it's something you and your kids will never forget!!!
