Facebook

Ok I remember why I wanted to post in the first place. Now facebook has allowed me to get in touch with old friends but it also has allowed me to see how these old friends are now. One specifically.

There is a guy that I went to junior high and high school with. We were friends but didn't keep in touch after high school. Yes he is one of my facebook friends but have only spoke via chat once. The other morning I get a pop up from him on chat. I was dang didn't want to talk to anyone. The conversation went something like this...
Him: Hey

Me; Hey how are you?

Him, miserable you?

Me; good, sorry things aren't going well.

Him: I was robbed last night. No ID, went to bank can't withdraw money since I have no ID, oh I am in Puerto Rico. but I did get a prepaid credit card.

Me: Wow,sorry are you there for business or fun?

HIM; oh i have a house here. and in Miami

Me; oh ok
Him: been trying to get hold of my friends here to see if I can get there help.

We continue on I asked about his health(recent post that he had something similar to cancer and wasn't looking good.)

Than:::::
Him: I hate to ask but can you send me 20 and I will send you a check back I promise/

Hold the phone are you freakin kidding me?

Pick my jaw up off the ground. Look at the messages again. Going ok if someone did steal your money etc. maybe this isn't really you since it had been a weird conversation.

Me: sorry but just had a lot of medical expenses and things are tight.

This guy has 2 house travels all over the world and models. Are you telling me that I am the first choice to get $20 from. And we haven't said much of anything to each other in what 17 years. Haha...

This is when you want to go are you serious and lay out the goods for him on why this is so random. Don't get me wrong but if it had been someone that I had recently talked to maybe. But this situation. I think I will hold on to my money. Thanks. BYE BYE>
I quickly got off no lie I had to go take a nap so I could go to work. But then a couple of days later I get on his page and just say: Hey hope things worked out ok for you the other day.
Go back to check to see if he responded. Figured this would be a good way to find out if it was really him I talked to or not. HE DELETED IT! Ok nice one. So guess who is leaving my facebook friends.

It's nice to catch up with people and it gives me a good way to keep an eye on my kids and their friends but sometimes it gives you who people really are.
