Blood, doctor, throw up and one frustrated momma!

Sebastian has been sick for about a week now. Off and on. Complaining of his stomach, throat hurting. No fever of course. But enough that he wasn't able to go to school. Last week went to the doctor she said it was an ear infection and he was getting dehydrated a little. Fast forward to today. I get a call at work when all heck breaks loose on shift change that Sebastian is not wanting to go to school. He is not feeling good.
Frustration sets in when you are busy and really can't deal with the junk at home. Here lately that has been alot. I figured he just was tired since he had a long night last night. I try and get him to go and he refuses. I decided I would just handle it at home when I got off. Well, yeah that didn't happen. I got home to find him curled up in my bed crying. Ok I give we turn the lights out and I lay down next to him and turn on the old cartoons on PBS he used to watch. You know the ones before everyone had cable. Clifford, Dragon tales etc. We both sleep all day. He still doesn't feel good. I take a peek at his throat and its red. YEAH! No really just not what I wanted to see.

After Whiz quiz with Alex. I go and pick Sebastian up from home just thinking that maybe he has strep and we will be in and out. The clinic was not busy at all. YES! We see the doctor for both him and me. Might as well since I haven't felt great either right? Mine is simple she gets me an antibiotic and done..Sebastian not so much. Strep test negative. She comes back in and takes a long look at him and says she wants to test him for Mono. Ok. For most this would be unusual for a 9 year old. Not in my house.Come on Eve had mono in 3rd grade. Malcolm with his heart issues, Alex and the mail box what else would be normal for us..

This is when I figure all kinds of mess would break out. Sebastian hates... I mean HATES needles.. The flu shot one year I had to drag him out from under the table. To get his this year I had to hold him with Malcolm helping. But tonight he was so sick that he just said ok sat in the chair and did pretty good at first. She got the flashback in the needle and nothing... MAN! She digs around a little and then says you have a choice I can keep digging around or restick you. So we chose the resticking. Maybe that wasn't the best decision... On this second stick she used two bands to tie off the circulation.(never seen this done) He is doing ok then all of a sudden his face turns yellow, and pale, then his eyes start to roll back I was Sebastian are you ok? Then the lab girl looks at him at this point he has his head tilted backwards and he is mumbling that he can't see anything. She stops what she is doing and we start to get him a cold cloth and he is just limp.Still awake but saying he feels funny that his eyes are blurry and can't see anything but black and white. Hmmm not good. Finally he tells us he thinks he going to throw up. Oh Joy!
I get a trash can and put in front of him just in time to catch the little he did.

We get him out of the chair and he and I walk to the bathroom where he is still very lite on his feet. Some cold water and we go back and wait for our turn again. This time he is saying no way Jose... It ain't happening. I totally understand that. Finally he says we can get it from the finger. Yeah she couldn't even get it to bleed. It took all we could do to get a drop out of the finger... Finally we only tested for the mono not the cbc test. which I really am wanting to see now. Knowing after looking at his blood issue and his behavior that he is very dehydrated.

Mono test is negative. I try and get the doctor to understand how concerned I am about the dehydration and the other issues. She said probably viral. Maybe the severe stomach pain is Constipation.. Only problem is he is pooping.. Really.. By the end of this I have one child that feels absolutely miserable and still no answers..
So now we have a house full of gatorade and more popsicles.. Crossing our fingers and keeping one eye opened...
