Good bye 2009 and HELLO to 2010~

2009 went before I could get on here and post what I was wanting to about the year. This last year had its ups and downs. But I would have to say mostly ups. 2009 became the year of making memories as a family and building family relationships and making them stronger. With those as the goals I have to say it ended well. We finished the year off with a game night at our house with Stephanie and her girls and Adam and Sonia and their kids, mom and Tracy made a late appearance to bring Jeffrey to spend the night. Her and Ashlyn stayed over at Stephanie's house. I still can't believe we played 2 1/2 hours of Charades. Yes and it was a blast! The kids had cousins spend the night also.
Then the last day of the year. I had some time to really think about everything over the year and how it was ending. There are still things we are working on as a family to be where we want to be. We have our moments on not getting scriptures read everyday etc. But I do have to say things have been good this year. At the beginning of the year I wanted to build the memories of family time with the kids that they would remember as they were older. We went on a road trip to New Mexico to see Uncle Chuck and Aunt Jolene. We saw Roswell and the aliens lots of deer that we were able to feed and the kids absolutely loved spending time there. We took a road trip to Arkansas and Louisana to the diamond minds. We just happened to go during the time where every city around here was getting drenched. SO there was mud mud and more mud. We ended that trip in Shreveport before heading home. Sebastian just felt like he needed to see one more State. It was a small detour and gave us more memories.
Thanksgiving took us to Meridian State Park in Texas and us camping in tents. Yes, tents. It was cold but the kids had a lot of fun. I have to say sitting by the fire and watching them play capture the flag in the pitch black was nice to see them having so much fun. Leaving the stress behind us.

As a family and individually we had learning experiences. These not only brought us closer to each other but to Heavenly Father as well. Learning to depend on the answers of our prayers and trusting in God to lead us the right way.

I was blessed to be able to watch my kids grow up. Maybe faster than I wanted them to. I have truly been blessed to have the children I have and to be given the time to watch them grow into such amazing young people.

Malcolm became a priest and was able to stand in when Cole was ordained a Teacher and then assist in baptizing a young man who was in a wheelchair this last week. He is so caring and is becoming an amazing young man.He is blessing the sacrament. I watched him at this baptism and realized he was so close to being gone on his mission. That seems so foriegn but really it isn't.

Cole was ordained a teacher. I have watched as he learned more about his duties as a teacher. He has realized that girls aren't everything and really not what he wants to focus on. He is working hard to develop his skills in Pole Vaulting. He just finished his camp for pole vaulting jumping 9 ft. He never stops smiling or laughing except when we try and take pictures.

Eve started Junior high this year and is learning the ins and outs of it. She has been quite accomplished singer. She made 2nd chair in All-region choir. This finally gave he the confidence of the talent that she already had.

Alex started intermediate school and is loving his new sense of responsibility there. He has become quite the leader there. He is growing up quite nicely. He is playing floor hockey and basketball.

Sebastian started a new school as well. Finding his way around this new world of his and coming in to being independent from his older siblings. He is now playing basketball as well.

We added a puppy to our family as well. Milo. Surprisingly he is quite good and been spared most of the puppy issues.

I have to say I have been amazingly blessed with family and new friends. Sometimes when the lord is guiding you into a new situation and experience you don't realize the blessing you will find. I changed jobs this year which was very difficult for me. It has given me a lot more experiences and making me find my way in my career instead of taking the easy path. By doing this the lord has lead me to some amazing new friends as well. I am so grateful for the trials we have dealt with this year and the blessing they have given us. I am looking forward to the new year.

2010 is going to be amazing. Building new memories with more road trips. Disneyland and world and more family time. But also leading us to growing closer to the Lord by keeping us together through scripture study and prayer.
