I have spent countless hours wishing and nagging kids to clean rooms.You know you get on your kids from the time they are little to clean up after themselves. There for a little while my kids did pretty well cleaning up their rooms then something happened. And they went back in time and man oh man what a mess they can create!
I finally decided that having a clean house all the time wasn't worth the yelling,stress on me or the kids that a clean house doesn't mean a good mom. So more or less I gave up. Now don't get me wrong I don't let it go to the extreme but the kids rooms were left as their rooms and the doors shut. They would have to clean them up on Saturdays or when I couldn't see the floor you know the deal.
We switched rooms about a month ago and all the rooms were cleaned and organized. Malcolm and Cole didn't switch rooms but they did do the cleaning and organizing without really being told or nagged. (I quietly was cheering)
The other night I realized something that their room was staying clean not just straight but clean. WOW! I told them how much I like their room being clean and was proud of them for keeping it clean. Malcolm and Cole acted like it was no big deal.As if it had always been this way. But then Malcolm spoke up
well now we have things we didn't have before.
What?
A laundry basket!
Seriously I thought do you know how many laundry baskets I have bought them in the past and never was used. I mean they would end up in the closet under the beds you know the normal kid hiding places. All I could do is laugh..
Maybe could it be my boys are growing up? I do have to say they are all doing better. Now if I can get my cats to clean up after themselves...Hehehe
