Is it really Texas if you don't have Friday night football? I love absolutely love going to football games. Not necessarilly professional but school games, college games. The atmosphere well I can't explain it. You can yell as loud as you want and no one thinks anything of it.
So last night started the official year of high school football for Summit Jaguars. What is strange is not going to a high school Freshman football game and watching Malcolm this year. Between his heart problems and losing the fun of football. He isn't playing. It should be good that he decided that the love of playing for school wasn't there that kept him from feeling the true loss of not being able to play. Ok now what I was saying. Malcolm is however in the Marching band so I have an excuse to go to the games. Now seriously I do watch him but more so I listen to the band. LOVE IT! The band is what helps get you into the mood of it all. The game was at North Crowley. Let me just say the school is HUGE and Beautiful.
Initially we were watching them going our guys are going to get creamed. Cole was telling me that his football coaches wanted them to watch their lines. Summit is short on man power so the lines are played by alot of Freshman. WOW! But they change their playing and ended up winning 14 to 7. GO JAGS!
I took Cole, Alex, and Sebastian with me to the game. Let me just say all the boys like football. But I would have to say Alex knowledge of the game is off the charts. He was blowing me away. He knew why they called each flag and even was telling Sebastian the plays they were calling or running. Cole may know this but he isn't as willing to share his knowledge with his mom as Alex. Here is the story with Alex. His big sister in Big brother/ Big sisters just graduated from Mansfield high. So Alex has been a true Tigers fan for the last year. He has gone to many games in all sports. He even said on the way to the game how summit stunk and Mansfield was the best. Well those are fighting words in my house. ;) But at the game he had a change of heart he is now a fan. I knew we would get him just not this fast.
Cole of course found friends from school from last year that since he switched schools he hadn't seen. So he was entertained by during the game. I am not sure how much he watched. But I tried not to laugh but at one point these boys are like Cole you know when we play each other we are going to seek you out and get you. We can't have you beating us. If I am not mistaken his first game is against Malcolm old Jr. High and the one he was going to go to before we moved. So it should be good.
Sebastian was having fun until half time he thought was boring. Then you see he was laying on the bleachers. By the end of the game he was telling me his head hurt. I think it was just late and he was tired because on the way home all three boys fell asleep.
Malcolm's band half time performance was good. It was hard to hear them which I thought was weird. Maybe it was since it was an away game they were facing the other side. IDK. I text him after the game saying it was good. He said he messed up. He asked me if I was watching him. I said well to be honest I lost you in all the blue shirts and hats. If you didn't have the hat I could have found your big head.:) He laughed and said he still had a big head with the hat. ;)
I am just impressed that they can memorize the music, march side ways, backwards between people and not mess up. I totally am not that coordinated.
Next week we will be bringing grandma J and Eve with us. I just never realized how much games cost so we limited this week. $7 a person. YIKES>
It was alot of fun. I am glad we went. I had a blast. I am definately glad I have the boys to share the experience.
Friday night Football ROCKS!
