First off let me say I totally need a camera for my birthday or christmas... I am so tired of taking pictures with my phone. They look so bad. But at least I have some proof my kids and I did things. So that being said let me tell you about our Saturday.
So much happened today that I didn't want to wait to post that I might forget it all.
I informed my kids Thursday or Friday that we were cleaning the house top to bottom. Cleaners etc. Chore list is changing some I will explain later. That the work today included the yard too. Malcolm's job is the front mowing and Cole is to do the back. Cole is so much more over worked on the mowing. The back is at least twice the size of the front. Anyways, I told the boys I would let them sleep in partly figured it would be easier to deal with them and I was sooo tired. This is how tired. Eve called on the house phone but I could hear it in my room but just couldn't find it. She hung up before I answered it. Then My mom calls on my cell. I still blurry in my eyes answer thinking it was my daughter again saying what do you want... Joking of course then realized it was my mom. oops! She explains that Eve called her from the front yard saying she has a wasp on her... Now this is the picture. We are all three in the same house... SO of course I say tell her to move it..;0 Yeah right. My daughter hates BUGS but especially stinging kind. So get up make my way downstairs and find my mom at the door telling Eve what I said. UGH. ok seriously. I would not be standing still if one landed on me... Needless to say it was gone. Then a few minutes later Eve calls me into where she is doing her hair there is something in my hair. In her pony tail I find a greenish/yellow beetle looking bug. I drag her by her ponytail not literally but out the door where I manage to get it out of her hair. It was huge!
We get everything clean from top to bottom. Well except for the gameroom upstairs where I went through a bunch of boxes and have things in a stack to throw out. But swept, mopped cleaned toilets etc, etc. We were done by 3pm or so. Eve, Alex, and Sebastian were making up dances and some stomp routines. It was hilarious to watch them. Then this afternoon I think about 1:30 or so I found Cole doing his job mowing the back yard but when I looked out the window he was wearing his sweatshirt. WHAT! I told him he was going to have a heat stroke. He explained he didn't want to walk up stairs to get a shirt so he put on his sweatshirt. SURE that makes since... About 15 minutes later he opens the door hands me the sweatshirts drinks some water and goes to finish without his shirt. Boys!
Around 6 or so I decided it was cool enough to start the yard work in the front. My goal was this weekend get the flowerbeds in the front cleaned out. They have been totally neglected do to the busy work schedule. So Eve, Sebastian and myself started pulling weeds/grass out of our flowerbeds. Alex got home from going out to eat with Lyndsey and started helping. They were talking about wanting to mow the yard and how it wasn't fair the older boys get all the fun.
Before I knew it I was teaching all three how to mow. I had to keep reminding Eve I wasn't mad at her just trying to show her how to do it. I kept stopping her trying to keep from making more work for her self. We split it in 4 areas to be mowed. Who ever wasn't mowing was using the tools to edge by hand. I will be so glad to get the edger fixed. They all were having a blast.
This made me think about when I learned to mow the yard. My dad taught me when we lived on Micheal I think I was about 8 or so. I went out and begged him. I remember the hill it had and how hard it was to mow. But as a teenager I remember mowing the yard. Stephanie had too many allergies, Adam just didn't want to so I ended up doing it. The yard was too stinking big. Then I was pregnant with Malcolm I went to my mom's house to mow the yard. I was 9 months pregnant and trying everything possible to get him to come....;)
So I asked Cole and Malcolm who taught them how to mow. Cole said Uncle Taylor did in Midland when we visited one time. Malcolm said Grandma while we were visiting in Midland. Then evidently Cole started teaching Alex how to mow this summer. So now I have taught Eve and Sebastian and it is something they can do one day too. It was a good family experience. Before it was said and done. Cole was out there helping us and all four of them had mowed the front for Malcolm. It looks so good. I do have one flower bed that oh I am not touching before I kill the biggest ant hill I have ever seen in my life....So grass will stay there for now. oh yeah grandma got up from her nap and came and started sweeping the sidewalk but her shoulder has been sore so that didn't last too long. Thanks anyways.;)
We came in and everyone started showering. Mom and me headed to the store. I promised the kids that when we got back we would do karoke tonight. So out came the music and fun about 9:30. Yes I know kind of late but I had promised. And had been distracted and didn't get to it till then. These are the pictures I have posted. Please excuse the laundry you see. For the house being clean you would see the stacks of cloths to give away sitting there. It was so FUNNY!!! Alex, Sebastian and me, then mom(grandma)sang first while Eve(paula), Malcolm(simon),Cole(randy) were the judges for our show of American Idol. You have to realize the only one in my house that really watches this is grandma and sometimes Eve to it was interesting.
Alex sang some chris brown song, Sebastian and I sang a duet "I can only imagine", and Grandma decided she would sing too. So get this she said hers was a surprise so she gets up there takes the microphone and bust out Once there was a snowman>..she started laughing so hard she could barely get it out. Then her 2nd song yes 2nd song was shoot I can't think of the name it was one we sang as a kid... I climbed of the door and opened up the stairs, said my pajamas and put on my prayers, turned out my bed and jumped into the light and all because you kissed me...goodnight. then the last one was Miller's farm. All my kids started singing this one. They remember it from my Uncle when he would play his guitar and sing it. Cole had the guitar in his lap and tried to play the tune. It was nice. Almost comforting. I can't explain it.
Then we switched. Malcolm, Cole and Eve were up. Eve sang Leona Lewis, Cole was going to sing something couldn't get the microphone and his song right so he let Malcolm come do it. Ok this was hilarious he sang AL Yancovitch(spelling) you know the guy that spoofs on the songs. He sang ommish paradise. Check out the song is you have never heard it. It was too funny. He reminded me of my brother Taylor. He would sing those crazy songs. I think that is where Malcolm learned about him.
We ended the night by finishing the movie I forgot to mentioned we started in the time we were waiting to do Karoke. We watched Holes grandma had never seen it. I thought it was a good movie to watch.
Today was a really good day. I started thinking and looking at how I interacted with the kids today and it changed their way of interacting with each other. Hopefully I can keep the flow going.
Oh yeah we also made brownies and cake mix cookies....HMMM and the kitchen is cleaned up. YES!
