Happy 4th everyone! This is definately one of my favorite holidays. I don't know why. It has something to do with family time and the smell in the air the lights in the sky. It just makes you remember why we celebrate the 4th of July. My kids and I talked about the reason for the holiday after the fireworks show. We went back out to Lonestar park in Grand Prairie. We got there and the kids went and played and we watched the horse races. We would all look at the horses as they warmed them up and try to guess which would win. Some picked them for their color jockey(pink, yellow) others for their name. (no betting don't worry) It was a blast. I know some don't think that is a perfect family atmosphere but on the 3rd and 4th they have a family fun section set up with pony rides, rock climbing, bounce houses. You bring blankets, cooler, chairs and sit and watch the show.
This year the fire works didn't get up high enough initially which caused a fire early on. What amazed me was they didn't stop the show they kept on. But by the end there was 3 fires total and at the finali the fireworks went crazy. I don't know if it was planned. But it was one Heck of a final show. We loved it. What was even better we found a perfect spot to park and had no wait time at all to get out.
If I had to say anything. I hated that Malcolm didn't go this year. He is 14 and too cool for them. Cole went but as you could tell by his picture he didn't seem to happy. Although the fire made his day. Eve just wouldn't smile. She does that every once in awhile. All and All it was a good time.
What is different about us is our actual fireworks celebration we usually do on the 3rd then on the 4th we find another spot to watch them. This year I only had Eve after 4pm. The boys went with their dad to watch a party. Eve decided it was too many boys and stayed with me. Eve and I hung out and then made a visit to Aunt Michelle's house. So the 4 girls. Aunt Michelle, me, Eve and Destinee went to TCC to watch the fireworks. Eve had so much fun just hanging out with her cousin with no boys around. I think I finally left Michelle's house around 12:45 or so. We sat outside and had a good talk. It was really nice.
The pictures above were just some we took with my phone. Mom has Eve's camera in Arizona. If you look at the shots with fireworks you can see the fire burning in the lower right side. Hope everyone had a great time.

It must be the age, AJ doesn't smile sometimes too! Kids, they are so crazy! Looks like you guys had a blast though, and it sounds like it too! Too bad we couldn't be there!!!
Glad to see that you guys had a great 4th of July. Maybe someday we'll be able to share them together. Your mom said that Arizona fireworks just don't compare to Dallas :)
