Night Shift

I am now on my 2nd official night shift. If I had known I liked this shift so much I would have changed long ago. The only downside is I hate not being at home at night with my kids. Mom is there so they are not alone. Don't worry.
They should all be old enough to be able to sleep through the night without mom. I am just so used to going in when I go to bed and checking on them kissing them and going to bed. What is funny Malcolm the last time I worked the night shift couldn't sleep. He is a night owl anyways but he literally waited up for me until I got home the next morning. Now I know that sounds really bad but this is my child that since he was two waking me up to watch Lion king at 2am has never been sleep deprived. He runs on a different kind of sleep. He doesn't need much and he is the energizer bunny. I am waiting to see what Band and Seminary do to him this year. That may all change.

I got a call tonight from the charge nurse from my floor saying that the nursing supervisor said to let me know I was going to postpartum. YEAH! I think he thought I was going to be mad. Please. This floor is so laid back and relatively easy compared to med surg. So I get here and she says you don't have to take patients if you don't want to. And you can go home early if you want. Yeah I would love to go home early but I so need to have the extra cash for school stuff. So then she says find a computer and get on and play. I'll just have you help us out when we need you. COOL! We will see. I may be totally bored before long.

It seems so strange that Malcolm is old enough to go to EFY. He leaves bright and early Monday. I say bright but before the sun rises they will be gone to San Antonio. He will be rooming with Ashton. I don't know how many of you remember Franci (Paige) Howard. But this is Clyde (my brother in law) sister. They both needed a roommate and Charlie/Paige got with EFY and they are officially roommates. Which is good. Macolm really didn't want to stay with a stranger. Although he hasn't really seen Ashton in years. They played together when they were toddlers but man that was a long time ago. I hope it is a very fulfilling week. But spiritually and socially.(make lots of friends)
Thanks Stephanie for driving them down there and bringing them back. It made it a lot cheaper. I would love to be in the car ride back to listen to him, Sarah and Carrie talk about the fun they had.
Well I could keep going but I don't want to bore you.

Glad to hear that you're liking your night shift. I remember after I had McKayla they moved me to my post partum room at like 3am. I remember asking my nurse how she did it (working at night) and she said the trick is to keep moving haha I loved that nurse and she was actually due w/ her baby the same day McKayla was.
