Ice, Fever and Popsicles!

We finally had a Texas Winter day.. We get them maybe once a year. Usually around Feb. And boy did it ice. The roads were horrible. I heard one of the news anchors talk about how someone said Fort Worth drivers are worse than Dallas. Ft.Worth had more accidents. Please.... Really if you get out and drive the interstates here in Fort Worth. Between the water they cover and they way the made them it has nothing to do with driving ability. That is why all of the normal day accidents are in Dallas. Hmmm..
Someone said it was because Fort worth people were more dedicated to there jobs.
Whatever.... I would have not gotten in my car if I didn't need to take mom to work.
It was pretty slick and that was on the regular roads.
Even today there were patches. But like Texas other than the sand, cat litter and small remainders of ice in the shade you never would have known we had a ice storm.
That's Texas for you.

This week at work has been absolutely insane. The first week to go per visit and Monday they load up on me (means my regular ones didn't get seen) then Tuesday I started to see some patients and with weather that didn't last long. Wednesday ice ice and ice then fever fever fever. It would have been one thing if it had been a kid but no it was me. And the after effects are still lingering. I don't think I ate anything until this afternoon. My kids were so great. They brought me cups of ice, blankets whatever I needed. I pick up my cell phone and call them. Yes my cell. Hey it beats yelling across the house or downstairs. I guess it is kinda funny. But when you feel like PU then it helps to only have to call them and say SHHHH!!
:)
Now Alex came home sick. I did manage to see 8 people today and that is with me taking a couple of hours in the middle of the day off to try and regain myself. Alex came home from school and I saw him laying on the couch. I asked him what was wrong. He said his allergies were bothering him that his eyes wouldn't quit running. I tell him to come get some medicine I take a second look and feel his head Yes a FEVER! Yeah me. Yeah Alex. So I dose him with advil and give him a wash cloth and sit with him. Then go out to see one more patient.

I never realized some of the small things that you think your kids pick up on and don't. For instance I ask Sebastian to go upstairs and get a washcloth/rag for Alex. I know we have a bilion(I just bought them) he comes back down with a hand towel he had wet down as I asked him. I ask Sebastian do you know the difference between a hand towel and a wash cloth. Holding it up. He says no. Very matter of fact. Now does he really not or was he being lazy and grabbed the first thing he found in the linen closet. I will never know.

One more funny thing.. Frustrating but funny. We just dropped off Sebastian at Practice and Eve and I needed to run into Target to get some things for the sick one popsicles, jello etc... So I hand Eve a wad of Money. It's in a wad because it had been folded up in my scrub pocket. I ask her to count it. But as she counts it I am talking to her. Several times she says I mess up when you talk to me. So I stop. Thinking she will recount it. Granted it was dark but I turned the light on. So she tells me there is $129. Ok cool. So we go in and do some grocery shopping. I get to the cashier. $92 is the total I go to pull out the money she hands me and hmmmm 84 is all that is there. Seriously, I didn't bring in my purse or anything. I had to run out to the car and get more money. This is like my worst nightmare to be standing at the register with not enough money. My daughter just made it come true.... What is worse they were super busy. Lesson learned recount after anyone else counts it. Better safe than sorry. We had a good laugh about it.

Well off to bed.
