This picture of him getting an award at scouts is how I would say I remember him. My little boy. But reality is even though I still think of him as my little boy he isn't. He's 6 foot I think and not so little anymore. The second picture is really my guy now.
Happy Birthday Malcolm. I can't believe you are really 15. Will you stop growing....:) I took Malcolm with me Friday to my work and just walking into the hospital next to him. I felt so short. Can it be that my baby is really growing up. Yes unfortunately he is. I have always told him what a blessing he was in my life. He made me look at the world a whole other way. And he still does. He is so goofy and funny. He seems to make everyone he is around relaxed. I wanted to add a picture of him as a baby and I don't have any that are on this computer. :(
My sister in law Sonia always list on her kids birthdays depending on how old they are that many things she loves about them.
So I am borrowing that idea from her....
1. His sweet spirit about him. He can always tell when something is wrong with someone.
2. His strong testimony.
3. His crazy jokes. He truly got the corny joke telling from my side of the family. What is worse is you can't help but laugh at them. He has always had the ability to tell them and even when they well aren't that funny you laugh.
4. He is comfortable in so many situations. He hasn't met a stranger. Now ok maybe that wouldn't be good if he was still little. But if you are new in the ward he will definately pull you in and introduce himself. How great is that.
5. He has an insane talent in the music department. He can sing, play trumpet and is self taught on the piano.
6. This guy is smart. He took his SAT in 7th grade and scored where 92% of the seniors were scoring. He even received a metal from Duke for his score.YOU GO BOY!
7. He has this crazy knowledge of the gospel. All this has been since he was little. He had a primary teacher when he was about 9 and he would hold adult conversation about things they were learning from the scriptures.
8. He is very good at all this high tech stuff. It's a good thing cause I am not.
9. He has the memory of an elephant.
10. I love the fact that he has made a big effort to be a better person despite all the trials he has been through.
11. He is a great big brother. Even though there are times he doesn't want to be.
12. I love the fact that he never stops thinking. He has this love for learning. Maybe not at the pace his teachers are going. He is always way ahead which can cause him problems of boredom in class.
13. I admire his attitude towards his heart problem. He is so laid back about it. When he goes into the hospital with problems he just laughs and jokes with all the workers. You would never know that it truly is bothering him. He just says well I can't change the heart rate so lets mess with the breathing to have some fun. The nurses just get a kick out of the fact that it doesn't scare him and instead he entertains them.
14. In my head when ever I picture him he is smiling. I don't think since he could walk he has ever really slowed down. And the laughter is great.
15. Last hmmm. I know... I am honored that God trusted me with such a sweet spirit. Who I am so proud to have as my son. Malcolm is truly one of those kids you never could list everything great about him. YOU ROCK DUDE!!
Malcolm I hope you have a great birthday.
ps hopefully we won't end up in the hospital today. As of 6:45 this morning he called from school already heart problems. He then called me back after he been in it for 30 minutes saying it stopped. Fingers crossed.

That was a great post! I have to agree, he definitely has a way of making things that are semi-funny hilarious! You can't help but smile around him! Tell him Happy Birthday for us!
Malcolm is the man! I love his "younger" picture. I remember when he looked that young!! I'm sorry to hear about his heart problem. I am however very glad that he is dealing with it so well. You guys continue to hang in there!!
