I have to brag about COLE! NO I want to brag about Cole. You know I really have noticed a big change in Cole this year. He has matured 150% since this summer. Tonight I was watching him play in his football game tonight. He came home so excited well as excited as Cole gets. He tries not to look it but you can see it in his eyes and voice. Last week his coach moved him to 1st string full back and first string linebacker. Fullback is perfect as he says he can run the ball but also hit. And heavens knows that is the only reason he plays is to hit people. Is that good? It has to be in the blood. My nephews and all the rest of my boys are the same way. lol
Man he did really good too. He has been working really hard to improve his speed. And you could see it tonight. He would be on the left side of the field and they did a reverse play and would manage to make it to the other side to get the tackle. He carried the ball up the middle was the only carry he did tonight. But he was a excellent blocker for his quarter back tonight.
Something I noticed is that part of Cole's position on Defense is look to see what the Coach is wanting. Well at one point Cole keeps looking at his coach half raising his arms. You could tell Cole was frustrated. He kept looking at the line then at the coach. The coach finally notice they were missing the 2 center guys from their defensive line out there. But whenever the coach was getting frustrated with people he had on the field he was Stewart-Johnson. Then tell Cole what to do and send him in. The coach was trying to play everyone. But the frustration of guys not knowing there spots. So he would pull them out and send in the other guys.
I watched how Cole interacted with the other guys. He was encouraging them when they made bad plays or missed a block. At one point I was watching him come off the field from a play that I could tell he was dissappointed with himself and another guy was walking with him to get water and was crying. I don't know if anyone else was watching it but you could see him wiping his eyes and then see Cole talking to him encouraging him. Later when I asked Cole about it Cole said the guy was upset because he missed the tackle and the other team got past him. Well it turned out he did get passed this guy but the guy fumbled the ball running. So Cole told him if he had tackled him then they wouldn't have gotten the turn over. Hmmm smart boy.
Cole was told when he was finishing up 5th grade that he was a true leader and to stay with that ability from one of his teachers. Today you could see it in his interaction with the team and his coaches.
Off the subject of football. I have been so impressed with Cole and his school work. After the initial freaking out over his english paper at the beginning. He comes in and without saying a word does his homework, and projects. He had 2 due this week and finished them Friday night. And they aren't due till Tuesday and Wednesday. Wow, how easy does that make it for mom. He has decided what he wants to be when he grows up is a OB doctor. I am not sure where that came from but he is determined to have the grades to do that. And he does and that is even doing pre-ap classes.
Can I just say I am super proud of him. Along with the school, football he is super excited about what he learns in church both in quorum and sunday school. And always eager to teach us what he learned.
I don't know if I am feeling so much this way because I just love seeing him play and he did such a good job. But all that he is doing and accomplishing has really caught my eye. I am completely blessed to have him as a son. Cole you ROCK!
